The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) announced the publication of regulatory document REGDOC-2.13.2, Import and Export.
This document sets out the CNSC's guidance for current and prospective licensees who intend to import or export nuclear and nuclear-related dual-use items (also known as controlled nuclear substances, equipment and information).
This document also provides information about the CNSC's import and export control program with respect to licence applications, the licence evaluation process and compliance with regulatory requirements.
REGDOC-2.13.2 also identifies a change to how Canada's nuclear non-proliferation policy applies to evaluating export applications for foreign-origin uranium.
The CNSC regulates the use of nuclear energy and materials to protect the health, safety and security and the environment; to implement Canada's international commitments on the peaceful use of nuclear energy; and to disseminate objective scientific, technical and regulatory information to the public.
