CBSA issues dumping determination on silicon metal from six countries

July 7, 2017

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) made a preliminary determination of dumping with respect to certain silicon metal originating in or exported from Brazil, Kazakhstan, Laos, Malaysia, Norway and Thailand. The CBSA terminated the dumping investigation in respect of goods from Russia.

The Agency also made a preliminary determination of subsidizing with respect to the same goods from Brazil, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Norway and Thailand.

Provisional duties, at rates up to 155.8%, will now be payable on the subject goods that are released from customs on or after July 5, 2017.

The Canadian International Trade Tribunal will now investigate and formally determine if the dumping and subsidizing are causing prejudice to Canadian industry.
