Customs Notice on the implementation of the Canada-EU free trade agreement

September 14, 2017

The Canada Border Services Agency published a Customs Notice concerning the implementation of the Canada-European Union Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA). CETA will take effect on September 21, 2017.

The notice provides brief instructions concerning issues for importers such as tariff provisions, proof of origin and shipping requirements.

A new edition of the Customs Tariff was also published to indicate the rates of duty that will apply to imports of goods that qualify under CETA rules. The tariff treatment for these foods is the Canada-European Union Tariff (CEUT).
